About

Carolyn Grady grew up on the New Jersey shore, fell in love in Ann Arbor, MI, taught in Mumbai, India, and currently paints in Albuquerque, NM. Grady received a B.Ed. (Montessori) from Seattle University and an M.A. in English from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Subsequently, she taught English Literature and Writing and then Meditation/Relaxation at SUNY Fredonia. She is a certified Yoga Instructor, having taught and managed her own studio for many years.

Grady came to art, during a lull in her writing career, studying drawing and painting with Raymond Bonilla, and Alberto Rey. She now directs all of her creative energy to painting.

She is most often inspired by atmospheric and emotional effects in landscapes, psychological nuances of interior scenes, and un-selfconscious views of people or animals, particularly birds, while exploring a range of expression and vision. Always, though color, shape, and line resound as tools for emotional engagement, along with light and shadow.

A member of New Mexico Art League, Grady exhibits widely, receiving First Place in the 28th Regional Artists Exhibition at AG Gallery, Buffalo NY.

Grady and her partner, physicist Michael Grady, raised three children who inspire and enrich her life and art in unimaginable ways.
