Moving to the shadow of the majestic Sandia mountains several years ago, I found realism was no longer answering my need for expression. Abstraction, with its limitless possibilities opened my heart with joy.
I listen to what the paint wants to say and it leads me. Sometimes it pulls thoughts and feelings right out of me and onto the canvas. Sometimes, it’s the world’s motion, the roll of time, or the physical geometries of space that comes forth in a painting. I found I could paint from an inner space, interpreting inner as well as the outer spaces we inhabit.
Images are created through brushwork, shapes, and lines. What emerges most often are acrylic paintings on canvas panels full of motion and color, inviting the viewer on a journey of their own introspection.
